Bryan believes God loves the world by going down, down, down, not onward and upward. He gives thanks to the One who descends into our frailty, most fully in Jesus. He finds it really difficult to become one of the “least of these” because his lifelong faith only taught him to help “the least of these.”

Bryan 's codependency and gambling addictions conspire into God's good grace. At those times, God leads Bryan down the path of really following Jesus. But Bryan isn't there nearly often enough. He would like to be more like Jesus, taking on the inner and outer poverty that Jesus undertook in being obedient to his Father.
