SOUL FOCUS
What does it take to have the best? What is “the best”? What do you really want from this life you are living?
Today will be gone forever at dawn.
The Bible says that God has a good plan for every one of his children, as individual as your finger print. So when you answer the questions above, do you think in terms of the best house, school, car or country club?
III John 2 says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health even as thy soul prospereth.”
Prosperity and health are true riches because they allow you to enjoy your life, but are sustained through a healthy soul . Prosperity is not money alone, but includes relationships, ministry and personal peace.
Your soul is comprised of your mind, emotions and will, so why don't more people give these areas spiritual attention? I think most people don't realize that their soul needs attention, forgetting that there is a higher way of conduct, even in the area of thought. Think about your soul…
How is your mind? Educated, cluttered, doubtful? Organized, logical and pragmatic? Are you constantly thinking about how to maneuver the next thing in your life, like a game of chess, to get what you want? Reasoning? Justifying?
How are your emotions? Swayed by whoever is talking at the time? Depressed, fearful, dreading? Hopeful, positive and joyful? Up, down and around? Do they dominate in your decision making?
Just because you think a certain thing doesn't make it true .
Just because you feel a certain way, doesn't make it true.
Fearful feelings are unbelief .
Going about life by manipulating because you are anticipating what the next person will do is an exhausting way to live. Getting what you want…at what price?
III John 2 prompts me to pray this way:
“Lord, I thank you for giving me quality of life; and fulfillment, every day of my life. Keep me in your perfect will with every decision.”
I pray this way because I don't know what is best for me, and I don't always know what his perfect will is. Oh, I can think of things! But only God knows what will give your life quality. Your best comes from his best.
No one on Earth can know what is best for you, not even you, only your creator . Quality of life is different for everyone, but there is a quality life for you! Begin today to ask him for it and you will be surprised at what comes your way, even small things that will improve your quality of life.
If you are a parent, pray before deciding what is best for your child; the best thing may be different than you thought. God's will is not always your will.
When my son got his drivers license I was in a quandary about what to do for his transportation. Do I try to buy a used old car or a newer car? Do I split the payments with his dad? Do we try to buy one out right, and do we have the money? Who will pay for insurance? I was stressed! Sometimes my emotions wanted to throw down demands, but I never did give in to those stressful emotions. I kept praying for my own quality of life, and guess what the Lord did? One day, surprising to me, his dad called me and asked me to go look at a car that he was considering for our son. He then went on to say that he would purchase the car, and pay for it himself! He bought our son a car and carried it on his insurance. All I had to do was go look at it, test drive it, and say okay! All that stress was lifted and not only that, but now my boy could drive him self to school and sports! The quality of my life skyrocketed! Who knew? I did not even realize what a difference all this would make in my life, but God knew.
So trust him to lead you every day. Small battles are much less likely to become large wars when you pray, listen and trust - believing, God has your back, and your soul.
So, what is the best? A prosperous soul. Begin to be more aware of your soul and how it is doing. Ask yourself how you came to the decisions you have made thus far.
In today's world of stress, shift your focus . Focus on having a healthier soul, and the Bible says you will be more prosperous and healthier. A healthier soul will help you make healthier decisions. Sounds like a good plan!
