What Are You Listening To?

You've probably heard or read an analogy like this before, but it was a good reminder for me one morning, so I thought I would share my experience with you.

I was on my way to Bible Study one morning recently, and had my car radio tuned to K-LOVE, the Christian music station. I don't know if it was because of the weather or what it was, but for some reason, a country station kept bleeding into my Christian station and I struggled to hear the songs I wanted to hear on K-LOVE. Some of the time, I heard Christian songs, and some of the time I heard country songs. I kept going and the longer I drove, the more the Christian songs prevailed. It reminded me of us in life. What "station" are we tuned in to? What are we listening to? Are we listening to the world? Are we listening to what the world has to say about our situations or about life, the economy, the state of our world, etc.? Or are we listening to what GOD has to say about these things? God's Word is TRUE. What the world says is not. Sure, the world states FACTS about things, but FACTS are not always TRUTH. What are we listening to?

We need to make sure our "receivers" are tuned in to God, His Word and His TRUTH. If we don't, we can become discouraged, depressed, and negative. We will discourage those around us, and maybe even frustrate them. If the world's words keep "bleeding" in to what we are listening to, we need to keep working at being tuned in to God and not stop. No matter what is going on around us, if we stay tuned in to God, HE will lift us up ABOVE all that is going on around us. He will encourage us. He will make things happen in our lives and circumstances that will surprise us and amaze those around us. He will give us testimonies to show to the world that we serve a God of TRUTH and love.
