The Shack
by William P. Young

Probably the greatest sorrow a parent could ever face is losing a child. And when something that horrible happens, we hope that we will find comfort in the loving arms of our Father. But what if you couldn't get past the idea that God should have prevented it? What if you were so angry, hurt and distraught that you just couldn't get past it? Would God still be there?

In "The Shack", by William P. Young, Mackenzie "Mack" Phillips finds the answer to that question. Four years after the abduction and murder of his youngest daughter, Mack receives a note, inviting him to return to the one place that would be hardest for him to go, the shack where his daughter was murdered. And the note is signed "Papa". Given Mack's relationship with his father, the note bothers him on several levels.

But Mack can't ignore the note or his feelings for long, so while his wife and remaining children are away, Mack packs up and heads out. Wrestling with his emotions and memories on the way, he has no idea what is in store for him when he arrives.

The Shack explores some of the biggest questions Christian and non-Christians alike have asked. Why does God allow horrible things to happen? Where is God when we are suffering? What is the purpose? And in a reassuring, familiar way, William P. Young guides the reader through the pain and healing of one fathers journey, and reminds us all of the unconditional love and strength we will always find in God's arms.
