| Worship Is A Lifestyle
I have heard stories of the Glory cloud covering a place where God's people were worshipping. For a moment I thought I had experienced it. As it turned out, it was not the real thing, only my thoughts of what it might be like.
My three year old grandson had been watching cartoons in my bedroom when I realized that he had closed the door. This is never a good sign. When I entered, I saw the light on in the bathroom and that door was also closed. I was not prepared for what I was about to see. There was a cloud of baby powder that filled my bathroom and covered my grandson. When I put him in the bath, all of his body had been exposed to the powder explosion except for that one area that had been covered up by his underpants.
What a revelation I carried away from that experience. The parts of us that we expose to God, He covers. When we have been in His presence in worship, HE in return covers everything we allow Him to touch. God's desire is for us to enter His presence totally exposed, holding nothing back. This may be a clue as to why our prayers are not always answered. We might be holding something back from God that He requires of us in order to bring about the desire we have brought before Him.
There was no way I could enter the room without getting powder on me. God's presence is much the same. You cannot truly enter into worship without getting Him on you and the acknowledgement of Him being bigger in you.
After the room had been vacuumed, baths were taken, and everything was wiped down, there was still enough evidence in the air that all who entered would know that something had taken place there.
We need to know that we carry worship into our everyday life whether we realize it or not. Think about that bad day you had, those words you let fly when you were mad, those thoughts you let run wild in your head. Who did that bring glory to? When you told someone that you were praying for them, the kind words you spoke even when you did not feel like speaking kind words, those thoughts you took control over and turned to something pleasing to God. Who did that bring glory to?
Our lives are made up of what we do, what we say and what we think. These are the things that define who we are. Uncovering and giving these things over to God for His glory is worship to Him.
Worship is so much more than going to the church of your choice on Sunday and singing a few songs about God. Most anyone can do that, but not everyone gets the same results from it. Why is that? I believe that a true worshipper will turn songs about God into songs to God, not only in a worship service but also through purposely living it out in their everyday life.
