Bikers… Spreading the Gospel
As I reflect over the past month, I am amazed at how God has blessed me time and time again! I am a member of Christian Motorcyclists Association. I have been for nearly 5 years. My husband and I both love to ride motorcycles, and when our Pastor told us about CMA, we both lit up like a Christmas tree! What an awesome way to serve God using a tool that we both absolutely love….our motorcycle! This past month, we were involved in planning two Biker Blessings. For those of you who don't know what a Biker Blessing is, it's a day set aside to pray specifically for bikers, for a safe riding season, and/or for salvation! The events are fun-filled with contemporary Christian bands playing the latest Christian tunes; FOOD (A must for all bikers), Fellowship; and a short inspirational message. The message given isn't always what turns the hearts of some bikers to Christ, believe it or not! It's usually what they SEE at the Biker Blessing! As Christians, we all need to be aware of that! I'm reminded of Rob ; a biker who attended our Biker Blessing last year. He is married to a Christian woman, who came from a Christian family. Rob and his wife have been married for a while now. His wife and her family have been after Rob to give his heart to Christ for some time, but Rob just wasn't ready yet! Last year, as he was scanning through upcoming events at a local Harley-Davidson dealership, he saw the invitation to our upcoming Biker Blessing. He decided to come “see” for himself what all this “hoopla” was about! As Rob pulled into the parking area that day, he heard the music playing, and saw people scampering from one end of the parking lot to the other, laughing and visiting with each other; reaching out to help others with a task; and the sea of motorcycles! He quietly sat back on his bike and just observed. The music played for a while; food was served; people came by and spoke to Rob a few times and asked him about his bike; but for the most part, Rob stuck to himself and just observed. The music stopped playing and our Guest Speaker got up and gave her short inspirational message, followed by the definition of Temporal blessing versus Eternal blessing. She explained that a temporal blessing was just if you wanted to have a safe riding season. It was nothing more than that. It was temporary! She also explained that the Eternal blessing was for those who wanted something more; something deeper; something more long-lasting…..Salvation; Spending the rest of your life with Christ in your heart throughout Eternity! Rob's ears perked up during her message and he began to ponder what she was saying. As the Prayer Teams went through the sea of bikes asking each biker what kind of blessing they wanted, God was preparing Rob's heart for a whole new way of life! When the Prayer Team got to Rob, he gave his heart to Jesus! What an awesome blessing that was not only to Rob, but to us! Rob was one of many that gave their hearts to Jesus that day. Rob went home that day with a whole new outlook on life! His wife asked him what he had done that day, and he simply said, “Ohhhh, I went to a Harley dealership, hung out with a bunch of bikers, and found Jesus!” She nearly fell over from excitement! From that day on, Rob has been a member of our CMA Chapter. We have watched him grow every day into a man of God that just amazes us each time we see him! He is so full of the Joy of the Lord! He is truly a walking testimony to those around him! This year, at the Biker Blessing at our church, one single man gave his heart to Jesus. As I sit back and reflect upon that one single man, the Lord has given me a vision of Him planning that day specifically for that one man! The man never gave us his name, but I hope that one day he will see just how special he truly is to God and that God has a special plan for his life! The Lord showed me that this biker blessing was put together specifically for this one man! No one else was supposed to be there that day….just this one man! I am reminded about the fact that even if you or I were the only person left on earth the day Christ died on Calvary He would have still died for just you or me. One simple person…..He died for you, and He died for me. And He died for this one single soul that attended our latest Biker Blessing. How special is that! My message today isn't about accepting Christ as your Savior. It's about making sure the Christian walk you walk is the walk that you want others to see. It could be the only thing that will turn others to Christ. But ….it could also be the one thing that turns them away from Him! Blessings upon all that you put your hand to. Christi Wilson |
