Dear Movie Goers, Hope you all had a great time at the movies last month… I did! I got to see one of my most favorite Stop - Motion Animated movies in 3-D; “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and I must say that it was very well done. There are some movies that I urge you to see that have already been release in theaters this past month.
Make sure you see the “Bee Movie” with Jerry Seinfeld and Rene' Zeilweiger coming out in theaters on November 2 nd !
I am usually not a prude when it comes to movies because I try to be open and see the artistic genius in every work of art. For the most part, most movies need a lot of improvement in that area, but I walk away with a learning experience of what to do and what not to do if I ever want to make a movie of my own. This brings me to the controversy surrounding the upcoming movie, “The Golden Compass” due to hit theaters in early December. While the movie has beautiful cinematography and wonderful acting and whimsical creatures, the author of the books in which the movies are based upon, Philip Pullman, is a devote atheist and is known to purposefully write his books to “bash” God and incorporate his views of secular humanism within the movies, “The Golden Compass” being the first of a trilogy. The Christian community is in an uproar about it and wants to ban the movie. I have seen tons of emails going around about the movie and Philip Pullman; I would suggest that if you want to boycott the movie, don't go see it. Another suggestion would be to write The National Movie Association and voice your concerns. There is a book out right now that reveals more about the controversy and what Philip Pullman stands for called, “Shedding Light on His Dark Materials”, that may help you in your decision to see this movie or not.
My thoughts are, you would probably be surprised of how many directors, producers, actors and actresses; every aspect of the movie industry is atheists or agnostics and it makes me wonder why Christians don't take a stand for more movies that are totally against God, morals, family and decency. It's only when someone “comes out” and says “I'm an atheist” that people jump on the band wagon. People need to open up their eyes and see that it's all around you. There are some recent “slasher” movies I can think of that I've heard NO controversy about. Either take a stand or get off the fence; Just my opinion.
Everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving and I'll see ya at the movies (I'm gonna go see “Bella” again). Peace Out! Philly See more reviews and updates at: |
