HeartBeat the Magazine asked Christian D.I.V.A.s a few questions about their organization – here are their responses:

HB: When did this organization form and how did you come up with the name and idea of it?

D.I.V.A's: Christian D.I.V.A.s was officially launched back in October 2005 after Leah and I met at a World Vision Artist Associate retreat in Florida .  The concept for Christian D.I.V.A.s was formed out of a need for a special place for female musicians to come together to fellowship and talk about issues that only other women could understand.

Christian D.I.V.A.s.'s name stands for:

DEVOTED TO CHRIST
"But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the preaching ministry."
Act 6:4

INSPIRED BY THE SPIRIT
"All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:16-17

VICTORIOUS THROUGH THE WORD
"In all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us."
Romans 8:35

ARTISTS FOR THE KINGDOM
"Sing to Him; sing praise to Him; tell about all His wonderful works!"
1 Chronicles 16:9. 

The name was originally meant to be a joke!  However, after doing much research and discussion about a name for our group, Christian D.I.V.A.s kept coming back to us.  We finally decided that if we properly explained what our name meant to people then most would catch on and so far they have!

HB: What is your purpose and goals of the group?

D.I.V.A.s : The purpose of Christian D.I.V.A.s is to create a safe and valuable place for female artists to pray for one another, support each other in our individual ministries and share career opportunities.  In addition to community, we also provide our members with unique opportunities to gain exposure for their music ministries through radio, live performances and publicity.

HB: Is there a criteria for being in the group or can anyone be a member?

 D.I.V.A.s: Yes, we have very specific criteria for group membership. 

Please see below:

1. A Christian
2.   Female Performer
3.   Perform a minimum of 25 gigs per year (home church dates excluded)
4. Attend a local church in your area
5. Professional recorded CD
6. Professional website
7. Able and willing to participate in group discussions. (A minimum of 4 posts per month is required and the yahoo discussion group is regularly monitored by our staff for active participation.)
8. Open to sharing ideas and insights into life as a female Christian artist.
9. Agree to be a part of our official website www.christiandivas.net   and in all future publicity campaigns (i.e. dittytalk.com and myspace.com)

HB: Do you have a scripture that you stand on, a motto or Statement of Faith, etc...? 

D.I.V.A.s : Yes, it is all in what our name means.
