What Our Founding Fathers Really Said

 

Looking back on the formation of the United States of America we attribute her conception to the “founding fathers.” How soon do we forget what our own fathers have told us as we grow up and start a life for ourselves? So it's no wonder that the majority of Americans can't even name our founding fathers. Even fewer know what they thought. When we don't remember our history we are sure to have a sketchy future.

Foundations are important. No building stands strong without a strong foundation. Our nation has been powerful due to strong foundations from men of strong beliefs. Today those foundations are being destroyed by those who want to change this nation. Textbooks are rewriting history, and few people know what is happening. I seek truth and hope that you will enjoy reading the true words of those who fathered this nation.

The U.S. is unlike any other nation. Our founding fathers left their own nation to find a better place for worship without restraints. Their desire was to worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob through the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ. Their desire was so desperately strong that they did not shrink back from death but forged into the unknown with the power of their known God.

The hardships they endured are only a “movie” to the young people today. With the ease of life we have, it is difficult to understand what had to be done to give us the freedom we have today. Lives were literally offered as sacrifices. Freedom is not free.

 

Christopher Columbus gave great honor to Jesus Christ. Have you heard of his Book of Prophecies ? Did you know that he stated,

“It was the Lord who put into my mind (I could feel His hand upon me) the fact it would be possible to sail from here to John, scriptures a strong and clear testimony from the 44 books of the Old Testament, from the four Gospels, and from the 23 Epistles of the blessed Apostles, encouraging me continually to press forward, and without ceasing for a moment they now encourage me to make haste… No one should fear to undertake any task in the name of our Savior, if the intention is purely for His holy service. The working out of all things has been assigned to each person by our Lord, but it all happens according to His sovereign will even though He gives advice. He lacks nothing that is in the power of men to give him. Oh what a gracious Lord, who desires that people should perform for Him those things for which He holds Himself responsible! Day and night moment by moment, everyone should express to Him their most devoted gratitude”.

Does this surprise you? This won't be found in our children's textbooks because our founding fathers' beliefs are being hidden. Jesus Christ was the foundation for their lives.

 

Too many believe Thomas Jefferson was a Deist and not a Christian, but in the following letter we can see this is not so. In a letter to Dr. Benjamin Rush, dated April 21, 1803 Jefferson voices his opinion on religion:

“My views… are the result of a life of inquiry and reflection, and very different from the anti-Christian system imputed to me by those who know nothing of my opinions. To the corruptions of Christianity I am indeed opposed, but not the genuine precepts of Jesus himself. I am a Christian in the only sense in which he wished anyone to be, sincerely attached to his doctrines in preference to all others…”

Quite different from the rhetoric we are fed by the liberals today. If God can be wiped from our memories then evil can reign and we will be like any other country without God. We must know why America became so great is so little time.

 

Jefferson also said, “ Can liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed the conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.”

 

John Quincy Adams, seventh president of the United States, in his “Eulogy on the Life and Character of James Madison,” clearly gives his stand against government interference with worship of mainline Christian denominations:

“…After the close of the War, in the year 1784, Mr. Jefferson introduced into the Legislature a Bill for the establishment of Religious Freedom. The principle of the Bill was the abolition of all taxation for the support of Religion, or of its Ministers, and to place the freedom of all religious opinions wholly beyond the control of the Legislature”

 

 

 

Benjamin Franklin demonstrated great gifts from God. He served in the Continental Congress, the Constitutional Convention, and was the president of Philadelphia at the age of 17. Inventor, philosopher, diplomat, scientist, printer, and government official, Franklin also had a charitable heart that was inspired by his faith in Jesus Christ. He founded Pennsylvania Hospital in 1751 and in his writings stated:

“…For as there may be mistaken zeal for Religion, even to the giving our bodies to be burnt for what we may call such, and yet without any true Love of God in our Hearts; so likewise the same Apostle tells us, that we may bestow all our goods to feed the poor, and yet, notwithstanding such a distribution, be void of the Spirit of real Charity. But I am now speaking of, and recommending that kind of Beneficence which is the fruit of Christian Benevolence.”

 

Patrick Henry is best remembered for his statement “…give me liberty or give me death” but do you know the rest of the speech?

In his oration given at St. John's Church, Richmond, VA, March 23, 1775:

“…There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations; and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slaver? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”

On the back of the resolves passed in the House of Burgesses in May 1765, Patrick Henry wrote his thoughts,

“…Whether this will prove a blessing or a curse will depend upon the use our people make of the blessings, which a gracious God hath bestowed on us. If they are wise, they will be great and happy. If they are of contrary character, they will be miserable. Righteousness alone can exalt them as a nation. Reader! Whoever thou art, remember this, and in thy sphere practice virtue thyself, and encourage it in others.”

 

Before Wikipedia there was Noah Webster. This Yale alumnus, with all his God given talents, was solicited by The Constitutional Convention to recommend the new system of government to the people. The pamphlet “Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution” was then created.

Upon divine inspiration to create American Dictionary Webster said,

“If the language can be improved in regularity, so as to be more easily acquired by our own citizens and by foreigners, and thus be rendered a more useful instrument for the propagation of science, arts, civilization, and Christianity.”

 

 

 

 

In a speech given in 1923 by President Warren G. Harding on “The Oregon Trail” and speaking of Marcus Whitman:

“Never in history of the world has there been a finer example of civilization following Christianity. The missionaries led under the banner of the cross, and the settlers moved close behind under the star spangled symbol of the Nation.” Dr. Whitman sought only the privilege of proving his faith .

 

 

 

 

 

Over and over, our Christian roots go deeper and wider as The United States of America was formed. But today history is disappearing and being rewritten. Engravings, paintings, monuments and more are slipping away into darkness. Such is the case of one painting, “ The First Prayer in Congress ” by T.H Matheson. The essence of our founders' spirit of humility and dependence on God is beautifully captured. Since the 1950's this masterpiece original seems to be no longer in the possession of the U.S. Department of the Interior Museum Collections. Excuses have been made, according to Catherine Millard who made inquiries, about the piece and its whereabouts.

In 1986 she received a response letter from Doris Fanelli (Supervisory Curator) stating that the painting could not be found even after four scholars searched fifteen years for it. On January 1, 1989 a different story was told. It was said that the painting had been “incorrectly recorded as an original” instead of a print. In a letter forwarded to Ms. Millard, written by Doris Fanelli, dated January 12, 1989 was the following:

“…Whether the painting (“The First Prayer in Congress”) exists or not is immaterial because it is not a documentation of the event. It is a history painting, a conjectural piece executed after the fact and intended to evoke emotion in the beholder.” This was originally from Doris Fanelli addressed to Grant Mydland, Assistant Secretary , Department of the Interior , Fish and Wildlife , National Park Service , Washington, D.C.

Catherine Millard's book The Rewriting of American History gives fact after fact of what has been done to erase our Christian heritage. She states, “ The original marker outside Carpenters' Hall depicted a reproduction of this painting, “The First Prayer in Congress”. However, it was removed (emphasis mine) in the spring of 1987 and replaced with a marker bearing secular details primarily concerning architecture, windows and construction of this building, once owned by the “Carpenters' Guild.” It is strange that today that same picture is found on the Office of the Chaplain U . S . House of Representatives website where prayers in Jesus' name still go up.

While Matheson may not have been born at the time of the Constitution, he certainly had access to the writings of our founders and a record of their activities. This painting depicts the event as related to the Journals of Congress, our founding fathers correspondence and the records of Christ Church (also known as Nation Church - no separation there) how many other paintings are displayed recreating scenes where the artist was not present? What about the painting, “The Signing of the Constitution?” Should it be removed because Howard Chandler Christy painted it in 1940? One is removed and the other is not. The second is one of the most widely reproduced paintings. The only difference is the desire of some to eradicate any foundation of Christianity from our history.

My challenge to you is to educate yourself and be not fooled by those who seek to seduce you into a world of lies. Our country The United States of America was indeed founded on Biblical statutes and a dedication to follow Jesus Christ and the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The reason we are where we are now in such a short period of time is because of our Presidents' following mandates dedicated to honoring God first. Immeasurable blessings have been bestowed on this country for that reason.

Now that a President decides honoring homosexual behavior is greater than honoring the God of our fathers on the National Day of Prayer , we should expect to see the negative consequences.

God spare this country even if there be found one person crying out to you.
