Texas 75149 In 1966 Founding
Pastors Harrison M. and Laverne Sewell received a word from God to start a
church in the Dallas, Texas suburb of Pleasant Grove. In that same year, they
purchased an old condemned house and began renovating it into a church. At
their first service in September 1966, there were 14 people in attendance, 5
of which were the Sewell family. The entire Sewell family ministered in each
service. Harrison Sewell would preach the Word of God; Laverne Sewell would
teach the children; and their children, Sheree, Harry and Suzanne would sing.
Despite the small beginning, the congregation grew and it wasn't long before
a new facility including classrooms, offices and a sanctuary were built. All
three of the Sewell children continued to minister with their parents as the
church grew. |
