Hello everyone,

Last month was Autism Awareness Month and I wrote about my son, Phillip, who has Asperger's Syndrome, which is a branch of Autism.  I was reading a friend's website about her son who has Autism and was touched by her story. Everyone I have come across that have children with Autism have said the same thing, "They were normal babies and then something happened and they were forever different."

Have a blessed Month and walk in favor!

Love, Connie

Here's Natalie's Story...

MY NAME IS JOSEPH

Joseph was born at 10:16pm on Monday, March 26th, 2001. He was a premature baby by 5 weeks. He tried to come at 7 weeks early but we managed to stop labor with magnesium and a brief hospital stay. I had preterm labor with all of my children but Joseph was the earliest. He did not have an extended stay at the hospital. His lowest weight after birth was 5 lbs and it did not take long for him to really thrive and grow.

As a baby, some of his developing skills were delayed but nothing that seemed to alarm anyone… even our Pediatrician who happens to have an Autistic son as well. He didn’t roll over until almost 7 months and crawling came around 9 months. Joseph decided to walk at 17 months old… but boy did he walk. Literally, that little boy stood up and took off. He never walked the room by holding on to furniture or tables or anything. He just didn’t. I have his first walk on video and he stood up and walked all the way from the back of the house to the front door looking for his daddy. An amazing night.
