A Few of My Favorite Things |
|
Everyone has a
favorite place, a store, a flea market, website or whatever that they like to
shop for a good bargain. Some of us have several favorite places. This week I
thought I’d share some of my favorite places. Kirkland’s— Website:
www.kirklands.com. If you want something special, ornate, and
reasonably priced, Kirkland’s is the way to go. Kirkland’s is available in 37 of our 50
states. They offer: framed art, mirrors, candles, lamps, picture frames,
accent rugs, garden accessories and artificial floral products. Much of their
merchandise is ornate such as in the Victorian style or very European in
nature. Do not expect clean, sharp lines, but curves and lots of detail. And
when they have a sale or clearance, it’s a real blow out sale/clearance. For
instance, I have a beautiful floor lamp with faux silk shade and beaded trim.
Original price: $130.00. When I bought it on sale: $60.00. They also offer
incredible Christmas nativity scenes and other holiday items as well. Ikea— Website:
www.ikea.com. In
the United States, Ikea operates out of 20 of the 50 states. You may also
shop on line. All furniture items must be assembled. Their kitchen ware is
incredibly low. They offer clean cut, sharp lines in their products. And,
their prices are worth the extra effort to go the distance to shop. For
instance, when they offer a sale, you can find a nice, basic white coffee cup
for $.50. Throw rugs go for under $5.00. Furniture is inexpensive as well. We
bought our oldest daughter a full size, very sturdy, all wooden bed for under
$300.00 (does not include mattress or box spring). They also offer children’s
furniture and toys. And, Ikea is an incredible place to shop for items to
organize your home and office space on a very small budget. Target and Super Target— Website:
www.target.com. One of the things I like the most about
Target is how colorful and textural the home decorating items are. And, for
the most part, they are very affordable for name brand merchandise and their
stores are available nationwide. Most of their bed linens, towels, and window
treatments are quite bold. Small kitchen appliances and table wares are in
rich jewel tones. They even sell upper end furniture. For instance, they
offer a line of Thomasville Furniture called Renovations. This line is all
wood and does need assembly. We bought two different types of dressers for
our younger daughter’s bedroom and both pieces together came to under
$700.00. Sound expensive? It’s not. Check the price of Thomasville Furniture
and you will see what a discount this is. Waverly is a name brand for fabric
and bed linens. A comforter in toile fabric, by Waverly, king size, was
originally offered for $140.00. I kept my eyes on the clearances and bought
this comforter for $70.00. As I mentioned before,
everyone has a favorite place, store, website to shop. These are just a few
of my favorites. May God bless you and may you be showered with Pennies from
Heaven. Cynthia |
