When I ordered this
book online, I had no idea it was the sequel to “The
Christmas Shoes”, which I reviewed last week. I was just looking for books with a
Christmas theme. Imagine my surprise
when I started to read it and found that I could now know just how much buying
those Christmas shoes would change not only Robert Layton’s life, but the
life of young Nathan Andrews. |

The
Christmas Blessing finds us in the present time, with Nathan Andrews a
young adult in medical school.
Watching his mother die of cancer was so emotional for him, that
Nathan decided to follow a career in medicine, so that he could help save
others. Yet now, in his third year of
medical school, Nathan is questioning whether this career path is right for
him. Treating patients in the hopes of
helping them live, only to see them die is too much for Nathan to bear. This pain, coupled
with his dislike of the attending physician, nearly causes him to drop out of
medical school. Then he meets Meghan
Sullivan, a young college student who also happens to be one of the fastest
runners in the state. Which is a
miracle, since she also happens to have a hole in her heart. A chance meeting with Nathan Andrews helps
him to remember why he got into medicine in the first place and reminds us
all about the spirit of Christmas. Oh, and in case you
were wondering, yes, the man who bought the shoes, Robert Layton, makes his
appearance in this book, with a wonderful connection to both Meghan and
Nathan once again. |
