Welcome to “The Male
Room”! What is it, you ask? Well, it is a place where men can come and
find information, inspiration, and personal commentary and opinion on a wide
range of topics that are of particular interest to men. Heartbeat obviously touches the lives of a
lot of women, but we do not want to leave the men behind, so I am taking on
this challenge to share something with you each week. The Male Room is a play on words of “The Mail
Room”. I have never worked in a mail
room before, but I imagine it is a place where three important tasks take
place every day. 1. Pieces of information and communication
come in to the mail room from all over the world. There are advertisements, bills, personal
letters, invitations, business correspondence, and small shipments of objects
coming in from multiple directions and varied sources. 2.
People sort through all the mail.
Someone has to look at it, evaluate it, categorize it, and place it in
its proper holding place for further handling. 3.
Pieces of information and communication go out. Once properly identified and evaluated, the
mail is “delivered” to its proper recipients. That is my vision for the Male Room. I want there to be information and
communication coming in. I will be
reading, surfing the net, and watching for interesting and pertinent articles
and information, but I also want our readers to submit ideas, questions,
articles, opinions, etc. I will sort
through it all looking for the six main areas that I hope to address
regularly on this page. They are Health and Fitness, Marriage and Family, General Interest and Humor, Social Life and Hobbies, Spirituality, and Career. These are
the areas that, as we grow in them, make for a well rounded man in today’s
society. Lastly, I want to “deliver”
something to you of value. We all get
enough “junk mail” everyday. Most of
it never even gets opened, but just gets tossed aside for trash. I want to deliver information to you that
is worth your time to stop, read, and interact with. It may just be a word of encouragement, a
shared idea that helps you solve a problem, or perhaps a life principle that
brings about a wonderful change in your life. So there you have it. The Male Room is a place for men to gather,
share information, and deliver something valuable to each other, particularly
as it relates to “male issues”. I hope
that you will join me here each week.
